things to do as hot weather comes ☀️
since summer is almost here / already is for some states here in the us:
- remember to stay hydrated. dehydration can seriously fuck with your body.
- even though you don’t want to eat, please eat a little. fruits and veggies are great for you and your body, but you also need protein don’t be scared to eat a little meat or eggs your body needs it
- don’t over exercise especially if you run or exercise outside! the heat can be really bad so if you do exercise outside drink plenty of ice water and eat a little. if you can, go to a gym or swim or simply find an easy workout you can do in the comfort of your own bedroom.
-don’t feel bad if you slip up a day or two!!! it’s the summer it’s gonna happen. don’t let it get to you too much.
- hang out with friends. they love you and care for you and summertime is a great time to hang out and have fun bc school wont get in the way
- figure out what your BMR is! it’ll help you see just how many calories your body burns off just by keeping you alive and it’s nice to see so if you do slip and have chips or icecream chances are you’re gonna be okay ,and your daily activity and walking and things like watching tv or talking burns calories too. those are not part of you BMR.
- be safe during the summer please i know you want to look skinny and fit for the beach or the pool but none of those things are worth losing your life over
what skincare culture should be:
-strong encouragement to use sunscreen and stay away from tanning booths
-encouraging little black and brown kids to love their skin color, giving love to people with skin conditions such as vitiligo/albinism/hyper-pigmentation/etc.
-good smelling lotion for all
what skincare culture is:
-unless a women has totally clear poreless pale skin that glows like paintings like the virgin mary she is gross and unhygienic and doesn’t take care of herself
-don’t want to be that girl? spend $1000 a year on expensive goo sold by glossier and lush and inject weird chemicals in your skin to get rid of freckles and moles and wrinkles even though you’re only like 25
i get so grossed out when people make fun of other people’s appearances like u know when u overhear two guys talking about how “man she has no ass at all” or a couple of girls making fun of another girl for wearing a pair of shorts that “aren’t made for her body type” i legitimately feel sick to my stomach like why would u do that…
Whatever the problem is
the answer is not in the fridge
those little things on ur nose aren’t blackheads, don’t try and get rid of them they’re sebaceous filaments and they’re permanent and literally everyone has them
every girl has that little pouch of fat on her lower tummy, despite what magazines try n show u, you have important organs there that need to be protected don’t try and get rid of ur pouch
ur body is smarter than u think and it knows what to do when u eat more than normal. one bad day, or even week, of eating poorly isn’t gonna ruin anything at all I pinky promiseif u think u look good up until u try taking a selfie, it’s not ur fault - our faces are asymmetrical and when u see ur face flipped it will look unnatural to u, since u don’t see it that way when u look in the mirror. to everyone else it looks perfectly fine
no one’s stomach looks the same at 8pm as it does at 8am. no one has a chiseled six pack after a day of eating, not even the super fit people u see on tumblr, because ur stomach naturally expands after eating and expecting to have a flat tummy before bed is very unrealistic
no one notices if the bags under ur eyes are bad today. no one pays attention to the bump in ur nose or the zit on ur chin or the piece of hair that u missed when u were straightening. literally no one notices these things except you so stop worrying about it ur gonna be fine
sometimes u just gotta get over urself
this made me cry I needed it so bad
anyway now that we’re on the topic i just wanna say all my love goes to wlw who are terrified of having sex with girls bc they think their bodies are gross or not attractive enough and who always feel like they gotta compare to their partner aesthetically (esp us fatties)! you’re sexy and your girl will love every single inch of you!
some of the most important health & fitness tips I wish someone told me when I started out:
- modify your moves. Don’t worry if you can’t squat down all the way or can’t run for too long, you can only get better from here!
- I don’t care what your hyperactive fitness instructor tells you - drink your water and take a break if you need it. you are not a machine. don’t destroy your health trying to get fit
- protein and carbs are your friends
- don’t ask random blogs on tumblr serious health questions you could look up or ask a doctor
- don’t try to match your instructor’s pace during a workout. It’s form, not speed. Do not compete with them. 10 good lunges > 20 sloppy ones
- don’t have weights? Find something heavy - a textbook, water bottles, whatever works for you
- IF YOU ARE HURT DO NOT WORK OUT
- IF YOU ARE TIRED AND EXHAUSTED DO NOT WORK OUT
- PUSHING YOURSELF TO “THE LIMIT” DOES NOT MEAN WORKING OUT UNTIL YOU’RE READY TO THROW UP
- Always do a quick warm up and cool down
- Treat yourself often
- forget workout clothes. You don’t need Nikes and expensive yoga pants. An old tee shirt and some cheap gym shorts will do just fine
- Stay hydrated
- Trial and error. Success is a bumpy road
- Do not compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter 10
- Fitspo posts and before & afters are great but remember you can be the same height & weight as someone and never look like them. You never know the full story behind that picture
- Try not to measure your progress in strictly numbers
- Calories do not reflect nutrition.
- Peanut butter is higher in fat but are healthy fats
- Fruits have natural sugar in them that your body needs DO NOT AVOID FRUITS
- 1200 calories is barely enough to survive
- Please do not do just cardio alone
- Quality over quantity. A 30 minute intense workout will always beat a half ass 2 hour elliptical workout
- Try different things. You may like running, you may not. Maybe yoga, swimming, dance, hiking, etc. Try things out.
- YOU WILL NOT BULK UP NO ONE ACCIDENTALLY BULKS UP
- All you need is your body to work out. Don’t stress over gyms
- Do it for YOU. Not the boys and the crop tops and the “stares”
- Rest days are essential. Take as many as you need. Never skip a rest day, your body needs to heal
- Losing weight does not guarantee happiness. It never does. Don’t put your other problems on hold to focus on your body, they’ll catch up with you ten fold later and it’s not fun
